Pictures Posted

Oh... we are back to reality. Our vacation was wonderful and very relaxing. I think that was the longest Chris and I have spent alone by ourselves... and hey... we still like each other :o)
Anyway, I just posted the pictures from our honeymoon on monikachris.shutterfly.com so check them out.

Isla Mujeres

We spent the last day of our honeymoon in snorkeling and chilling on Isla Mujeres. It was a beautiful laid back island with amazing white sand beaches.
On Saturday our flight wasn't until late in the evening so instead of waiting in Cancun we drove down to Playa del Carmen and enjoyed the beach for one last day.

Chichen Itza

Day & Night in Merida

We didn't really like Cancun all that much so we took any opportunity to get out and explore places elsewhere. Merida was one of these escapes. Merida is a Spanish colonial town located inland about three hours away from Cancun and one hour past Chichen Itza. It was a small town alive with crazy drivers everywhere and people sitting around in the squares just enjoying the evening. We both really enjoyed this town as in comparison with Cancun or any of the coastal areas it didn't have hardly any tourists and the people there were so so sweet and very helpful. I was the lightest person there and Chris the tallest. Most of the Mayan people there reached to my shoulders or so, I felt like a giant. We spend a day and night there before we headed out to Chichen Itza.

Chris tries to kill Mony

This was a day in cenotes. Chris really wanted to go diving in cenotes.... and at the time it sounded like a good idea. Basically cenotes are subterranean water bodies with some connection to the surface (caves with water in them). Prior to booking our tour we asked them whether it was going to be a problem that I am somewhat claustrophobic, but they assured us that it was all open so no problem there. The first cave was large and spacious with just a few tight spots to go into that I promptly avoided, but Chris loved it. We were in the cave for about 45 minutes and after that we went on to our next cave. I knew I was in trouble once I climbed down the ladder and saw this 3 foot opening with water that was the entry way to the cenote, and it just got worst from that point on. This cenote was a narrow tunnel with stalactites and stalagmites all around. The whole time going through I just had to concentrate on not freaking out and I must say I did better than expected... well until we got into this small cave (about 5x6ft) and our guide decided it would be funny to turn the lights off.... yeah.. I didn't think it was so funny. Luckily after what seemed as an eternity he turned them back on and we started to head on. I can safely say that that was the worst few minutes of my life. Lol... Chris was convinced that I was going to kill him after we got out... but he was safe, I was just happy I survived and got out into the sunlight. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right? :o)

Day in Tulum

Cancun was so beautiful and amazing that the first day we got there we decided to leave and spend the day in Tulum and after that in cenotes in Hidden World. Cancun is like being in Vegas only no gambling and more beaches. But other than that you feel like you never left the States. Blah.
Tulum on the other hand was absolutely beautiful. The combination of the ruins with the backdrop of the Caribbean is breathtaking.

Super Dive-Mony

I was a basket case the morning before my dive. The winds were blowing like crazy... the sea was angry that morning and I had no idea how I was going to do. Luckily, all worked out. I had a wonderful time and I was able to complete all of the assigned tests to get my certification. The underwater world it truly amazing.... can you see any fish? Chris was diving with my instructor and I and snapping pictures all around us.

Cozumel Palace

Hola amigos!

Mony and I are now lounging around the Cozumel Palace - the sister hotel to the much, much larger Aventura Spa Palace. It is smaller, but Monika would like to bring the bathroom and bedroom back for our house ( I would be OK with the view). I think we needed a change -the Spa Palace was just a little too sedentary for us, so a choppy ferry ride and a the prospect of Monika's first scuba dives tomorrow have returned her to her normally lovably sassy self.

Livin' large on the Mayan Riviera.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Hello gang,

We are now officially honeymooning or as my t-shirt says - lunamielorsos en espanol. Mony is sleeping off her many sex on the beaches, but she is still healthy and happy (everyone keep their fingers crossed). We are now staying at Aventuras Spa and Resort - it is all inclusive which is definitely a new experience for me. Two years ago an all inclusive resort meant running water and sleeping indoors.
The Skodas stayed here a couple of years ago and I can see why they liked it. It has everything - two huge pools, two lagoons, 47 bars, climbing walls, gym, spas, and chin-up bars in every room (actually, no chin -up bars but incredibly free bottles of tequila, rum, and scotch in all the rooms, and plenty of places to do sit-ups).
The weather is great and we are so very happy that my parents don't have to go through Zoe's poop to find Monika's diamond earring -yeah!
Stay tuned for more updates on Mony's health and dive status.

Mission Accomplished

There are just things that you would never think you would ever do..... like picking through your dog's poop. But just that you can't imagine doing it, it doesn't mean you won't do it and... there I was. It took three poop sessions but I am happy to report that the earring has been recovered. It wasn't pretty but it is done. I am quite excited that I was able to recover it myself because I couldn't really see myself asking my in-laws to go through my dogs poop.

Ok... all packed and ready to go, wonder who wins the pool on how long it will take me before I get sick. I hope nobody... I want to finally break the spell!!!

Almost there ...

One more night and we are leaving. Chris is working both days, today and Saturday, and I will pick him up on Sunday morning to go to the airport. I hate packing. Oh... I think my dog ate my diamond earring... I guess I have some work to do before we leave. Why would dogs like diamonds? Wish me luck.

Getting ready for our honeymoon

As most of you already know we got married month ago (September 22) and our honeymoon is not until November. We thought it would be somewhat easier to have some time after our wedding to relax and catch up on all the things we were neglecting while planning our wedding. Also I wanted to get the theory part of my dive certification taken care of so I could finish the practical part during our stay in Cozumel. The month has flown by and now our honeymoon is almost here.
We are flying out on 11/4 (that would be this Sunday) and coming back on 11/17.
Were are going to fly to Cancun, get a rental car, drive to Playa del Carmen where we spent our first night. In the morning we go to Aventura Spa Palace for the next three days. It is an all inclusive resort so we can truly get into this honeymooning :o) Just have to watch all the alcohol consumption.
We are going to leave the land on our fifth day and take the ferry over to Cozumel where I will try not to drown while I attempt to get my dive certification at Dive Paradise. Chris insisted that we stay in yet another all inclusive resort, the Cozumel Palace so it should be nice and relaxing yet again. And after this we head up towards Cancun where we have a week in a timeshare condo. We will try to post some stuff while we are down there... so keep checking in.
